Advancement Director


The Advancement Director develops and implements a creative Advancement Strategy to inform and engage individuals and businesses about the ministry of Ground Zero. This enthusiastic, driven, creative and organized communicator has excellent people skills and the ability to encourage and motivate individuals and businesses to join Ground Zero in our efforts to reach teenagers

Position-related Responsibilities

  • engage with staff to create, plan and implement exciting and effective ministry to teenagers


  • develop creative sponsorship packages to grow existing advancement efforts and create new efforts
  • identify, recruit, and secure the designated number of sponsors/ads for specified events and projects
  • secure Ground Zero Devotional Magazine Ads
  • secure prizes/outings for GZi’s monthly incentives
  • ensure Ground Zero fulfills our commitment to sponsors in print, online, email, media, advertising and signage
  • ensure the ministry acknowledges sponsors at events and follows up with thank you packets
  • identify and introduce new business partners to the ministry
  • communicate with local civic groups and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to educate them about GZ and offer opportunities to partner together


  • create and implement an ongoing nurture strategy to insure the individuals and businesses that join with us know how much we appreciate their support
  • seek out stories of life change and creatively share them with our ministry partners 
  • develop and implement a creative Advancement Strategy to meet ministry revenue benchmarks
  • abide by ECFA guidelines and access resources provided by ECFA in Advancement efforts
  • concept, write and implement appeal campaigns
  • Fall Dinner
    • Create and oversee Fall Dinner
    • Recruit designated number of table hosts and dinner sponsors
    • Create theme and oversee decoration to create and unforgettable experience for our guests
    • Assist with booking the speaker and organizing the evenings schedule
    • Establish goal for new monthly partners and special gifts for that event
  • Dragon Boat
    • oversee all fundraising aspects following a written, detailed plan to reach financial goals
    • recruit designated number of Captains for the festival
    • nurture Captains following a written, detailed plan
    • secure designated number of food and other vendors for Dragon Boat Festival and other events as necessary
    • secure designated number of Festival Sponsors
    • secure gift packets and incentives 
    • ensure captains and paddlers have a great experience throughout their Dragon Boat journey

Office Manager


The Office Manager oversees business administration for Ground Zero and works alongside the President and Advancement Director to provide administrative support. This detail-oriented staff member plays a crucial role in helping to keep the ministry organized.  Day to day, they oversee ministry communication efforts, office logistics, works with bookkeeping and accounting services to conduct the ministry’s financial functions, manages the donor data base, assists with advancement efforts and oversees retail areas.

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • engage with staff to create, plan and implement exciting and effective ministry to teenagers
  • attend and actively assist in all advancement and ministry events


  • provide assistance to the President and Advancement Director
  • assist with implementation of Advancement Strategy and donor nurture
  • report non-monthly partner gifts, sponsorship and ad payments to the Advancement Director upon receipt
  • manage ministry office logistics, including maintaining supplies and servicing equipment
  • unlock and lock the building, turn on/turn off lights, turn on music for each workday
  • receive phone calls and packages
  • schedule board meetings; send board email and text reminders; prepare room, reports, and logistics for board meetings
  • organize quarterly staff fellowships
  • maintain staff personnel files
  • oversee staff adherence to GZ Handbook including track staff sick leave, vacation time, late arrivals, and attendance
  • conduct new staff orientations
  • oversee Coffee Shop and Top Nosh operations including inventory and volunteer training
  • ensure Coffee Shop and Top Nosh organization and cleanliness meets DHEC regulations for an A Grade
  • manage logistics for visiting artists: advance events, arrange travel, accommodations and event needs
  • oversee ticketing for online event registrations, ticket distribution, box office, and volunteers


  • enter all gifts into data system appropriately and accurately for acknowledgement and tracking
  • check mail (PO and onsite), prepare and make deposits and submit all financial information to Belay Bookkeeping
  • maintain accurate staff AA sheets, distribute print copies weekly and protect funds in Payroll Account
  • prepare and mail monthly partner statements
  • manage POS systems for each retail location; train leaders; set up banks for retail locations; track revenue from retail locations
  • work with accounting firm to coordinate annual 990 tax preparations in July to be filed no later than October 1st
  • implement and maintain ECFA membership requirements
  • oversee facility scheduling, rental agreements, and payments
