Do you ever look around and wonder if you belong? Do you ever look around and find yourself completely doubting that you do? I am not here to tell you that you’re wrong. I’m not writing this with hope that you will read it and suddenly think, “I do belong, right where I’m at. Nothing needs to change."

In fact, there’s a pretty good chance that if you feel like you don’t belong, you don’t and you should change your surroundings. There are a lot of places and a lot of groups that we AREN’T meant to “belong to.”

For example: If you’re hanging out with a group of people that enjoys shoplifting on the weekends and you just feel like something is off and you don’t quite fit, that’s because that’s not the lifestyle you belong in.

But there is a place where you do belong. There is a group of people that you will fit with. And in that place, with that group, you have a very important role to play. That place / group of people is the church, also referred to as Christ’s body. Check out Romans 12:4-5.

The same way that your body is made up of countless parts doing very specific jobs, the church is made up of countless individuals each with their own unique set of gifts and talents. With those gifts and talents, we each have a very specific role preplanned for us. If we just seek with a willingness to serve, we will find just the right fit with an overwhelming sense of belonging.

Despite your doubts and insecurities, you are invaluable. You have gifts. You have talent. You have purpose. You belong.
